Who is VTCT?

VTCT is a government approved awarding organisation, regulated by national organisations such as the OFQUAL (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulations).

Is this qualification regulated (officially recognised)?

Yes, the VTCT Level 3 Award in Education and Training is regulated on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) meaning it is officially recognised.

Which mandatory units are included?

The following mandatory units are included:

  • UET1 Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
  • UET2 Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
  • UET5 Understanding assessment in education and training

If you have achieved any of these units in previous qualifications you have completed and hold we may be able to apply RPL, Recognition of prior learning.

What is RPL?

Recognition of Prior Leaning (RPL) is a method of assessment that considers whether you can demonstrate that you can meet the assessment requirements for a unit in a qualification through knowledge, understanding or skills that you already possess and do not need to develop through a course of learning. This can occur when you have already completed qualifications or learning that duplicates what is mandatory in the qualification you are about to enrol on.

You may possess skills and knowledge that have not been acquired through formal learning, (e.g., through work experience and/or other related learning that has not been formally certificated). This means that you may be able to proceed directly to assessment without further study, using evidence from un-certificated learning. We will advise learners if wethink this may apply to them.

How are the Practical Elements of the course delivered?

Although this qualification is perfectly suited to online delivery the subject can be brought to life in a classroom envirnment which enhances the learning experience. Therefore Optional Interactive Classroom sessions will be accessed by attending sessions at our centre over a period of 4 days or 3 hours per week, evenings or weekends for 8 weeks with our tutor Joanne Lee.

What is a Portfolio of Evidence?

A portfolio of evidence is a record of supporting information to confirm that you have the skills necessary to complete your qualification. Not all VTCT qualifications require you to build a portfolio and we will advise you appropriately. It can either be built in the form of hardcopy evidence or as an e-portfolio. We use a secure Dropbox folder for each individual learner where evidence in the form of written assignments, case studies etc. can be uploaded for the tutor, assessor, IQA and VTCT’s EQA can access them for sampling the learners progress.

Are there any exams?

You should be involved in at least one hour of microteaching. You must deliver at least one 15 minute microteaching session which should be observed and assessed by a member of the delivery team. For the additional 45 minutes, you can either deliver additional microteaching sessions or observe the microteaching sessions of other learners.
